Pam Saves $250 on Her Medigap Plan G
It was time for Pam M.’s annual review. Each year, on our client’s policy anniversary date, we schedule an appointment to make sure everything is still going smoothly. If we need to make any changes, we can do it during this review.
Pam has a CSI Life Plan G. We ran the numbers and found she could save about $250 per year by switching to an Accendo/CVS Health Plan G.
Accendo Insurance Company is a new Medicare Supplement (also called Medigap) carrier that first became available in March 2020. Accendo is part of the CVS Health family of companies and is an Aetna affiliate, a name we have come to know and trust.
We’ve been able to find incredible savings for many of our Medigap clients with Accendo. They often have the most competitive rate available, and they also offer a 14% household discount, which is the highest discount from any Medigap carrier today.
Accendo/CVS Health’s Medicare Supplement plans are currently available in 15 states, including:
- North Carolina
- New Jersey
- South Carolina
Without changing her plan or coverage at all, we were able to save Pam money by simply switching her Plan G to Accendo.
Martha Saves $300 on Her Medigap Plan N
Martha G. was up for an annual review on her Cigna Medigap Plan N. In general, Medicare Supplements have the greatest rate increase around Year 3, but we do annual reviews to make sure the client is still satisfied. We also run a price comparison every year to ensure our clients are saving the most money possible.
Good news – we were able to find $300 in savings for Martha by switching to an Accendo/CVS Health Plan N.
While the most popular Medigap plan we sell is Plan G, many clients prefer a Plan N for some cost savings. The premium for a Plan N is slightly lower than Plan G because it has some copays. You may up to $20 for a regular doctor’s appointment and up to $50 for an emergency room visit.
Also, Plan N does not cover excess charges. Excess charges are additional charges your doctor may bill you if they don’t accept Medicare coverage. Most doctors accept Medicare, and they are required to notify you if they don’t, so this has never been an issue in our many decades of helping seniors.

Lee Anne Earns 4% on Her Inherited IRA (and Saves $1,200 on Medigap!)
Lee Anne’s sister is a Medicare Allies client, and she recently got our email newsletter about fixed annuities. She forwarded that email to Lee Anne, and Lee Anne gave us a call about her inherited IRA.
She had received this IRA and wanted to do something with it. The IRA had taken a beating over these last few months due to the coronavirus pandemic. We were able to offer a guaranteed 4% interest rate – an incredible opportunity for this IRA that had been going downhill.
Ohio State Life is the only annuity carrier we know of that will accept an inherited IRA at this time, and it just so happened they were offering the best annuity rate at our disposable – a guaranteed 4%.
We asked Lee Anne about any other coverage she had, and it turns out she and her partner had Medicare Supplements. We did a little price shopping and found $50 in savings per month for both of them! That’s a savings of $1,200 per year on their Medigap plans.
