New for 2022: Call Recording and Disclaimer Information

As you get ready to review your Medicare coverage this fall, you may notice our agents will be asking to record your calls and provide a new disclaimer at the beginning of phone conversations. That is because we are following new compliance rules released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Here’s what you can expect during your conversations with our agents during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period this fall.

Recorded Phone Calls

One of the new compliance rules released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is we must record phone calls.

We are required to record all conversations with customers who want to discuss Medicare Advantage and/or Part D prescription drug plans. We also must store these call recordings for a minimum of 10 years. This is to ensure we have documentation of your interaction with us in the event of a potential complaint that CMS would investigate.

Please note that every agency selling Medicare must comply with this new rule.

Recording calls for quality assurance isn’t unusual. In fact, most industries record calls nowadays. We hope this adjustment is an easy one for all our clients.

New Disclaimer

The second new compliance rule you may notice this fall is that we have a new, required disclaimer that you will hear at the beginning of any sales meeting.

Here is the disclaimer you will hear:

“We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options.”

We must recite this disclaimer since we serve seniors nationwide and our agents cannot possibly offer every single plan in every single county. We are required to say it within the first 60 seconds of our conversation, so you will likely hear it after we say hello.

We apologize if this feels unfriendly or stiff, but we are committed to complying with CMS rules and regulations.

Senior Allies is a brokerage, meaning we offer insurance plans from many companies. However, we review the plan options each year and go through the testing and certification process with the carriers that offer competitive and well-rated plans.

We Are Here to Serve

At Senior Allies, our top priority is serving you! That means we hold ourselves to a high standard of care.

Following CMS rules and regulations is one of the ways we can assure you that we put your needs first. These rules are put in place to help alleviate confusion and ensure consumers receive accurate information to help them make their best health care decisions.

CMS occasionally adds new rules and regulations as they see fit to better meet the needs of America’s Medicare users. This is no exception. With the increase of phone and video meetings as well as the ever-expanding number of plans available, having this disclaimer lets you, the client, know that we take our meetings seriously and are dedicated to providing high-quality service to you.

Conclusion

When looking for a licensed insurance agent to help with your Medicare decisions, you want someone who takes CMS rules and regulations seriously and follows them with precision. Senior Allies agents do just that! Our team is committed to serving you and helping you navigate your Medicare options to find coverage that works for your needs.

As we look forward to the fall and Medicare’s Annual Open Enrollment Period, know that we are your Allies and we are here to help you!
